North Korea Warns US Arms Sales to Taiwan Threaten Regional Stability

North Korea has criticized U.S. arms sales and military support for Taiwan, asserting that such actions escalate tensions in the Taiwan Strait and undermine regional stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, North Korea has sharply criticized the United States for its arms sales and military support to Taiwan, warning that these actions threaten to increase tensions in the Taiwan Strait and destabilize the region. The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted international affairs analyst Kim Myong-chol, who described the arrival of U.S.-made F-16V Block 70 fighter jets in Taiwan as another example of Washington’s interference in the region. The analyst accused the U.S. of supporting Taiwanese separatists and challenging the ‘One China’ principle, emphasizing that the Taiwan issue is an internal affair of China and its resolution is solely up to the Chinese people, with no foreign power having the right to intervene. North Korea further cautioned that the U.S. should carefully consider whether it is prepared for a direct confrontation with China over Taiwan and whether it can withstand the consequences of such a confrontation. This statement comes in the wake of Taiwan receiving its first two of 66 ordered F-16V Block 70 fighter jets from the United States last week.
