French Foreign Minister Responds to Trump on Student Protests

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot urged France to control its own narrative, reacting to U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments linking ongoing student protests to immigration and Islam.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has responded to remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing protests by high school students in France. Barrot stated that Paris must be the “narrator of its own story” rather than allowing others to define events within the country.

Speaking to BFMTV, Barrot emphasized, “If we do not write our own story, others will write it for us.” He further cautioned against allowing France to “endure the narratives of others.”

These statements follow President Trump’s characterization of the French student protests, which he attributed to what he described as “uncontrolled mass immigration” and Islam. Trump’s comments were seen by many as an exploitation of the situation to promote Islamophobia.
