Israeli Military Court Extends Detention of Soldier Accused of Arms Theft

An Israeli military prosecutor has filed serious charges against soldier Raphael Shimsh, who allegedly stole weapons and ammunition from a naval base, with his detention extended until October 21, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, quoting Ma’an, the military prosecution of the Israeli regime has filed a severe indictment against an Israeli soldier named Raphael Shimsh in the guard section of the Shayetet 13 naval unit in Atlit. He faces charges of stealing weaponry, selling them, and consuming narcotics.

The Israeli regime’s prosecution has requested the detention of this Israeli soldier until the end of the judicial process for his case. The regime’s military court has extended his detention until October 21, 2026.

Shimsh, in September 2026, while present at the aforementioned base, stole three M4 rifles, an advanced model of the M16 rifle, along with their magazines and related ammunition.

This is not the first instance of news concerning the theft of ammunition and weaponry from Israeli military bases and their subsequent sale being reported. This issue has become a routine matter among Israeli soldiers.
