Kremlin Reports No Progress on Ukraine Energy Ceasefire

The Kremlin stated on Tuesday that there has been no change in the status of negotiations regarding an ‘energy ceasefire’ in Ukraine, despite ongoing discussions. Russian officials emphasize their focus on achieving lasting peace rather than a mere cessation of hostilities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, announced during a press briefing on Tuesday that Moscow continues to engage in consultations regarding the possibility of establishing an “energy ceasefire” in Ukraine, but the situation remains unchanged from the previous day. Peskov remarked, “We discussed this issue yesterday, and for now, I have nothing to add to previous statements. Contacts on this matter are ongoing.” This statement follows an announcement by the President of the United States the day before, who had reported an agreement known as an “energy ceasefire” between Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin had previously confirmed that discussions on this topic were continuing. The Kremlin spokesperson further underscored that Russia considers the achievement of lasting peace essential, not merely the establishment of a ceasefire, and has concentrated its efforts on realizing this objective.
