Former Israeli Military Chief: Regime Change in Iran Not Achievable Goal

Gadi Eisenkot, former Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, has stated that overthrowing the Iranian government is an ‘unachievable goal’ and a mistake to set as an objective for recent operations. He emphasized the importance of setting realistic and attainable aims.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Gadi Eisenkot, the former Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, has acknowledged that the downfall of the Iranian government is “an unachievable goal and it was a mistake to set such a goal for the recent operation.” Eisenkot made these remarks in an interview with the army radio of the occupying regime. He added, “It would be highly desirable for the system in Iran to collapse, but we must avoid setting regime change as our objective. Setting realistic and achievable goals is important.” Eisenkot also claimed that “regime change must occur from within the Iranian people.” In a brazen statement, he supported the assassination of the “martyred leader of Iran” by the occupying army, asserting that the assassination “was a correct and justified action.” These comments from the Israeli official come as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously declared his desire to overthrow the Iranian government following the commencement of hostilities between the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran. Netanyahu had claimed that the Israeli regime was creating conditions that would enable the Iranian people to overthrow the government, while also admitting that the realization of this objective was not certain and depended on the Iranians themselves.
