Israel-UAE Tensions Escalate Over Flydubai Flights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, tensions between Israel and the United Arab Emirates have escalated concerning the resumption of Flydubai flights to Ben Gurion Airport. Two weeks after an incident involving a Flydubai aircraft, an agreement on the terms for the airline’s return remains elusive, according to Israel’s Channel 12 television, as reported by Al Mayadeen.
Israel is demanding a full investigation into the incident and enhanced security measures, though the responsible party has yet to be identified. Israeli officials have also urged the UAE to bolster security protocols at Dubai Airport. Specifically, Israel’s internal security agency has requested the installation of more Israeli-made inspection devices for luggage checks and permission for its personnel to be present at Dubai Airport.
However, Emirati officials have rejected these demands. Senior Emirati figures stated in discussions with Channel 12, “We will not do what you dictate to us; you are undermining our dignity.” The report added that the UAE has also refused to cooperate with investigations under Israel’s proposed framework, making the resumption of flights a prerequisite for their collaboration.
As a consequence of these disputes, an Israeli delegation, slated to visit Dubai under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport, has postponed its trip indefinitely.
