Egyptian Parliament to Convene Emergency Session on Saudi Arabia Defense

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for an extraordinary parliamentary session to grant authorization for defending Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the need to support their Gulf brethren.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has requested the Egyptian parliament convene an extraordinary session to issue the necessary authorization for what he described as “defending Saudi Arabia and protecting it.” Sisi stated, “We must not forget the support of our brothers in the Gulf countries for Egypt. We stand with strength and fully support the protection of our brothers’ lands in the Persian Gulf.” He asserted that Egypt will take every measure to protect and defend Saudi Arabia, ensuring no harm comes to its security or stability. The Egyptian President claimed the purpose of this authorization is to defend brotherly nations in the Persian Gulf region, characterizing the move as defensive rather than an act of war against any other party. These remarks come as Saudi Arabia has conducted airstrikes and missile attacks on several Yemeni provinces, targeting residential homes and civilian objectives. The Ministry of Health in Sana’a reported that the number of martyrs and injured from Saudi attacks on Yemen, since the escalation of conflict resumed on September 3rd, has reached 419 people. In response, Yemeni armed forces have launched attacks against vital facilities on Saudi Arabian territory and military gatherings affiliated with Riyadh within Yemen.
