Israeli Military Chief Excluded from Netanyahu’s Meeting with US Defense Secretary

Israeli media reports reveal that Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, was notably absent from a recent meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli media outlets have disclosed that Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, was unexpectedly not invited to a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

The meeting, which took place at the Ovda Air Base in southern occupied territories, was attended by other undisclosed officials, highlighting a potential shift or divergence within the Israeli decision-making hierarchy. Typically, the Chief of Staff is a standard participant in sessions concerning military strategies and defense dialogues with the United States.

Earlier reports from the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation and Reuters had indicated that Secretary Austin was undertaking an unscheduled and sudden visit to Israel for discussions with Netanyahu. These developments occur amidst heightened political tensions within Israel as the country approaches Knesset (parliamentary) elections.
