Israel Air Force Conducts Large-Scale Drill Simulating Attack on Iran, Axios Reports

The Israeli Air Force reportedly conducted a major military exercise involving dozens of fighter jets and refueling planes, simulating a potential strike deep into Iranian territory. The drill, which passed through Iraqi and Syrian airspace, aimed to project deterrence amid regional tensions, according to Axios.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the American news outlet Axios, citing several unnamed U.S. and Israeli officials, reported on Wednesday that the Israeli Air Force conducted a military drill involving dozens of fighter jets and refueling aircraft. The exercise reportedly traversed Iraqi and Syrian airspace, extending to Iran’s borders, and simulated the route of a potential attack on Tehran.

These officials claimed the Israeli aircraft covered a distance of over 1,287 kilometers. The stated purpose of this maneuver was to demonstrate strength and send a message of deterrence to Iran, aiming to prevent any actions during Israel’s election on October 27. Axios reported that Israel had informed the United States of the exercise beforehand, characterizing it as a military training mission. This occurred despite Tel Aviv’s awareness that Iran’s air defense systems could detect the aircraft’s movements.

Furthermore, Axios, quoting American sources, indicated that U.S. officials had speculated Israel might have hoped Iran would react by firing at the Israeli jets. Such a response could have provided an immediate pretext for military strikes against Iran.
