Paris Police Ban Rallies Amidst Security Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Paris Police Department announced a ban on unscheduled marches and gatherings in several areas of the French capital for Thursday, October 22, from 8 AM to 8 PM. This measure was implemented based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Anatolia.
Additionally, two planned student demonstrations in Paris and Lyon for the same day have been canceled. The police decree specifically encompasses areas surrounding the Élysée Palace, the Prime Minister’s office, the Parliament, the Louvre Museum, the Champs-Élysées, and major train stations. It also includes Place d’Italie, Place de la Bastille, Place de la République, Châtelet, Les Halles, Île de la Cité, and areas with chain stores.
According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the Paris Police Department cited the organizers’ “inability to prevent violence” during prior gatherings as the reason for the protest ban. These developments follow extensive demonstrations and property damage on October 17, which occurred during protests against the high cost of living. These demonstrations also pertained to educational conditions and the university admissions platform known as “Parcoursup.”
