US Senator Murphy: American Public Unwilling to Wage New War with Iran

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy stated that the American public is not inclined to engage in another war with Iran, warning that continued U.S. involvement risks regional destabilization.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, a prominent Democrat from Connecticut and member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, emphasized in an interview with Al Arabiya that the American people are not eager to start a new war against Iran.

Murphy asserted that the public does not desire a renewed conflict, noting that the ongoing engagement has not concluded. He highlighted that billions of dollars have been spent on securing the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. forces remain stationed in high-risk areas of the region.

The senator cautioned that the situation in the region will continue to be unpredictable as long as President Donald Trump persists in involving the United States in further conflicts. Murphy expressed optimism that his party would win the midterm congressional elections, which could lead to a referendum on the Iran conflict.
