Egypt Warns of Devastating Consequences of Renewed Regional Conflict

Cairo has expressed grave concerns over the potential for new conflicts in the region, warning that any renewed confrontation between Iran and the United States would have devastating and far-reaching implications. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry highlighted the need for de-escalation and adherence to the Islamabad Accord to restore trust.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Cairo has issued a stark warning regarding the devastating ramifications of any new escalation in regional tensions. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry articulated these concerns during a regional security forum hosted by the Strategic Studies Institute in Bahrain.

Shoukry emphasized that a fresh conflict between Iran and the United States would unleash dimensions of destruction far exceeding previous incidents, leading to extensive and widespread repercussions across the region. The top Egyptian diplomat reiterated Cairo’s position, noting that Egypt has been among the nations that have suffered the most significantly from aggressions against Iran, including those perpetrated by the United States and the Israeli regime.

Addressing the core of the crisis surrounding Iran, Shoukry, without detailing the origins of these aggressions, identified a fundamental lack of trust as the primary driver. He underscored the critical necessity of taking gradual steps to re-engage in the process of de-escalation and to recommit to the principles outlined in the Islamabad Accord. This accord, aimed at fostering regional stability and confidence-building, remains a key framework for diplomatic engagement.
