A high-ranking Yemeni military official has cautioned economic actors against what he described as the “Aramco investment trap,” explicitly reminding investors that the petroleum giant’s facilities remain direct targets of the Yemeni Armed Forces. In a detailed interview with the Saba news agency, the military figure addressed the company’s dividend distributions, emphasizing that high payouts do not inherently guarantee financial stability or the safety of invested capital, and that overlooked risks could easily lead analysts to miscalculate future market prospects.

Elaborating on the financial structure of the Saudi conglomerate, the official noted that a vast majority of the declared profits—specifically 97 percent—do not reflect genuine returns for all stakeholders, as they directly correspond to the Saudi government’s share rather than private investors. Furthermore, he reacted to recent reports concerning Aramco’s reported plans to secure a 10 billion dollar loan, viewing the move as a clear indicator of underlying financial vulnerabilities and the urgent need to restructure the company in light persistent security threats and potential vulnerabilities to its infrastructure.

Concluding his remarks, the official stressed that the allure of lucrative dividends should never serve as a veil masking the tangible hazards confronting the enterprise. Instead, he argued, any realistic assessment of the company’s fiscal health must rest strictly on its genuine profitability and long-term revenue stability. In recent weeks, the Yemeni army has stepped up drone and missile operations targeting Saudi energy infrastructure and Aramco facilities.
