Trump Media Stock Plummets Amid Election Setbacks, Crypto Assets Suffer Losses

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the considerable electoral setbacks for Donald Trump and the Republican party in the United States midterm elections, described as a “disastrous event” by Western observers, have led to a wave of value erosion among his affiliated companies, inflicting a severe economic blow alongside his political defeat.
In this context, the shares of Trump Media and Technology Group fell by 24.54% at the close of trading on Wednesday, marking the lowest point in the stock’s history. CNN Business data indicates that the company’s stock value has decreased by approximately 62.5% since the beginning of 2026, with its price dropping from $13.24 in December 2025 to $4.49 by the close of trading on November 4th of the current year.
The cryptocurrency market linked to political figures has also experienced volatile days. According to Yahoo Finance, citing Crypto ProvalueOf, the official “Trump” token and the “World Liberty Financial” digital asset registered more significant declines than other cryptocurrencies among the top 100 digital assets during Wednesday’s trading.
CoinMarketCap statistics show that the value of the “Trump” cryptocurrency decreased by 17% over 24 hours, reaching $1.33. The “World Liberty Financial” cryptocurrency also fell by over 7%, settling at $0.047. The “Trump” token was introduced to the market in January 2025. The “World Liberty Financial” asset is the governance token of a decentralized finance initiative launched under the Trump family’s umbrella in 2024.
A cryptocurrency associated with Melania Trump, the President’s wife, also saw a drop of approximately 13%, trading near $0.066. Another digital asset, linked to J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, experienced a nearly 12% decrease in value, although there is no official, confirmed connection between him and this asset. This retreat in cryptocurrency prices occurred while the overall digital currency market was on an upward trajectory, recovering from overnight losses and showing a positive trend.
The victory of the Democrats has raised concerns about the future of cryptocurrency market regulations in America, including the “Digital Asset Market Transparency” legislative proposal. This bill stalled in the United States Senate during the current year, failing to secure the necessary 60 votes for advancement. Democratic party representatives had called for stricter regulations concerning ethical principles and conflicts of interest in Trump’s cryptocurrency projects, while four Republican members opposed the initiative.
Bloomberg research indicates that cryptocurrency companies affiliated with Trump have enlisted legal counsel and lobbying firms to prepare for potential Democratic investigations following their election victory. Trump manages his stake in Trump Media through a trust overseen by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, this stake is estimated to be worth around $600 million, and the value of his cryptocurrency-related business activities is estimated at nearly $83 million.
