Gadi Eisenkot Tasked with Forming New Israeli Government Amid Regional Crises

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has officially commissioned Gadi Eisenkot to form a new cabinet following consultations with parliamentary faction representatives. Eisenkot emphasized that the regime faces critical emergency conditions and unresolved regional conflicts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced on Sunday that, following extensive consultations with representatives of political parties and parliamentary factions, 67 lawmakers backed Gadi Eisenkot to form a new governing cabinet. Israeli media outlets have also confirmed the development.

During his remarks, Herzog stressed that the regime is confronting monumental challenges, noting that developments regarding Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon require immediate and decisive attention. He underscored the urgent necessity of establishing a stable cabinet capable of addressing these long-term conditions effectively.

Upon receiving the official mandate, Gadi Eisenkot stated that Israel is currently operating under a state of emergency, with active battlefronts remaining open, primary wartime objectives unfulfilled, and the nation mired in a severe political crisis. He pointed out that 74 Knesset members have explicitly declared a lack of confidence in the previous administration and its leadership.

Eisenkot also highlighted that Tel Aviv is grappling with mounting diplomatic challenges involving its key allies, noting that bilateral relations are experiencing a noticeable downward trend. Accepting the designation, he asserted that he is taking on the responsibility of forming an emergency cabinet, warning that Israel can no longer afford to prolong the current instability or plunge into another round of elections.

Concluding his remarks, Eisenkot outlined that his prospective government will be built upon the core principles of recognizing the Jewish character of Israel, enforcing mandatory military service, and designating Hamas as a terrorist organization.
