United Nations: Afghan women’s representatives will attend the Qatar meeting

According to the regional office report of Tasnim News Agency
Stephen Dujarric, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General, announced in a press conference that representatives of Afghan women, civil society and representatives of some countries are also expected to attend the UN consultative meeting for Afghanistan in Doha, Qatar.
Dujarric stated: This meeting is a follow-up meeting of representatives of Afghanistan and regional organizations where everyone gathers, we do not have an important role in organizing this meeting. We will be in Doha only on the 18th and 19th of February (28th and 29th of Bahman); A part of this event will be held with the presence of representatives of Afghan women, representatives of civil society and other social representatives. The purpose of the Qatar meeting is to discuss how to approach increasing international participation in a coherent, coordinated and structured manner, including by taking into account the recommendations of the independent assessment on Afghanistan.
Taliban has also been invited to attend this meeting and according to Scott Smith, head of the political department of the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the issue of recognizing the Taliban will also be discussed at the Qatar meeting.
