According to the statement on the website of the Hungarian Parliament, “Sandor Lezak”, the speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, signed the approval of Sweden’s accession to NATO on Saturday.

After the signature of the speaker of the Hungarian parliament, this law was sent to the office of the president of this country for publication.

Hungarian lawmakers approved Sweden’s accession to NATO on February 26, clearing the last hurdle in the country’s move to end years of neutrality and join NATO. .

The government of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has long been under pressure from his NATO allies to sign Sweden’s accession to this alliance. The president of Hungary now has a maximum of five days to promulgate this law.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, Finland and Sweden submitted requests to join NATO in May 2022 for security reasons. Finland became the 31st member of NATO on April 4, 2023. As for Sweden’s request, Hungary has just agreed to this request.
