Lavrov: “Crimea” case closed forever

At the ceremony of the 10th anniversary of the "reunification" of the Crimean Peninsula with Moscow, the Russian Foreign Minister announced that this region is an inseparable part of the Russian territory.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: “The issue of joining Crimea and Sevastopol (to Russia) is over.” This peninsula is an inseparable part of Russia.

In a speech for the 10th anniversary of the annexation of Crimea to Russia, he said that “over the past years, many problems inherited from Ukraine have been solved. Residents of Crimea can look to the future with confidence and optimism”.

In 2014, the United States and its allies supported the opposition of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to launch street protests, and finally, a number of unknown armed men attacked the president’s convoy, causing him to flee to Russia.

Moscow authorities have called the overthrow of Yanukovych’s government a “coup”; A coup against the president who supported Russia. Following these developments, Russia held a referendum on the Crimean Peninsula, and most of the participants voted to annex it to Russia.

Referring to the developments of 2014, Lavrov said in this ceremony that “ten years ago, the residents of Crimea decided their future independently and consciously by rejoining Russia.” I congratulate the inhabitants of the peninsula on this historic reunification with Russia. I wish them health, well-being and the best”.
