President of the European Commission: Gaza is facing famine

The head of the European Commission announced at the same time as his visit to Egypt that a ceasefire should be announced immediately to deal with the famine in Gaza.

Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, confirmed that Gaza is facing a famine that is not acceptable at all. He called for a quick ceasefire agreement.

According to Al-Nashrah report, in an interview with reporters after signing the strategic partnership agreement with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo, he said: Gaza is facing famine and we cannot accept it.

He added: It is important to reach a quick ceasefire agreement now, which will lead to the release of prisoners and more humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Al-Sisi said the heads of Egypt and the European Union agreed to reject any Israeli military attack on Rafah. The Egyptian president added: “We and the European leaders agreed to stop Israel from carrying out military operations in Rafah, which is equivalent to a humanitarian disaster for the civilians who are there.”

Al-Sisi’s statements and the head of the European Commission following the announcement of financial assistance worth 7.4 billion euros ($8.1 billion) from the European Union to Egypt and increasing the level of relations with this country as part of a campaign to stop the flow of migrants. to Europe, a campaign criticized by human rights groups.
