Lavrov: America made a miscalculation about Russia
Pointing out that the United States ignored President Putin's "good faith" for years and that Washington's desire for exemptions and supremacy has gone too deep, the Russian Foreign Minister said: "They made a miscalculation regarding Russia and should reconsider this matter." do |
According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting “Tass” news agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an exclusive interview with the American CBS TV channel this morning, emphasized that the Moscow authorities are ready to cooperate with mediators in resolving the conflict in Ukraine who want to achieve justice.
He said: “Anyone who really wants a just outcome, including justice in relations between Russia and Ukraine, which certainly includes an end to the Western policy of using Ukraine is interested as a tool of war against Russia, we will be ready to listen to their proposal for a peaceful settlement of the situation.”
According to Lavrov, Kyiv officials “remain in power only thanks to Western aid, and most Ukrainians are beginning to understand that their real enemy is the current leadership, which has “promoted many lies about Russia and rejected common history.”
The foreign minister stressed that Russia has always been ready to negotiate a peaceful solution to the problems in Ukraine, but the West is not interested in a real dialogue with Moscow. He reminded that the current government of the United States is not “willing to have a political dialogue” with Russia, and currently the diplomats of the two countries have nothing else to do except technical issues.
Lavrov’s opposition to the different course of the situation in Ukraine during Trump’s presidency
In response to another question, the head of the Russian diplomatic service expressed his opinion that if Donald If Trump was re-elected as the president of the United States in 2020, the situation around Ukraine would not have changed. It was in the upheavals, because the desire to destroy Russian-American relations, the basis of these relations, including all agreements on strategic stability, equality, mutual trust, mutual inspections, transparency, confidence building, etc. … all this by the president George W. Bush and it was destroyed when he told President Vladimir Putin, “You know, I’m pulling out of the anti-missile defense treaty.”
According to Sergey Lavrov, the current generation of American politicians has not learned from the policies that the United States began to promote after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He added: “The combination of a sense of superiority and a desire for too much exemption has deepened in the United States. Those who dismissed Putin’s enormous “goodwill” during his first two terms simply said, well, these guys are so good, we can keep them in our pockets. These people made a miscalculation about Russia and its president, and they should reconsider everything.” The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized in response to another question: There is no justification for Hamas’s attacks on Israel, but “the anger of the Palestinian people will be repeated and more generations will feel rejected, because until an independent Palestinian state is established, there will be “increasing violence against Israel” in the Arab world. And it will exist in Muslim countries.
