Despite re-emphasizing his country’s long-standing commitment to help Israel, the US Secretary of State claimed to be seeking to prevent the spread of conflicts in the region.
Blinken, who attended a news conference with his French counterpart, said: “We are trying to prevent the spread of conflicts and achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of prisoners.”
The US Secretary of State also called for an “immediate and impartial investigation” into the killing of the “Global Central Kitchen” workers.
A few days ago, Israel attacked the car of the employees of this international kitchen and killed six members of this “totally foreign team” – in addition to the driver of the car, who was from Gaza.
The International Central Kitchen is an international charity organization founded by the Spanish chef Jose Andrés in 2010 following the Haiti earthquake, and has since tried to provide food aid and hot meals to survivors after natural disasters.
This organization sent its first shipment of food from Cyprus to Gaza last March 22 (1402) and the second shipment was sent on April 11.
A team of this organization including six people and a driver from Gaza residents, after coordinating with the Israeli army, were going on a mission from the warehouse of this kitchen in Deir Balah (the center of the Gaza Strip), but the Israeli army destroyed their car and seven people including an American, an Englishman, a Canadian, an Irishman, a Pole, an Australian, and a driver from Gaza. This organization called this attack a tragedy and suspended its activities in Gaza until further notice.
In another part of his statement, Anthony Blinken once again emphasized his country’s long-standing commitment to help Israel and said: “We have a long-standing commitment to Israel’s security and helping it to defend itself.”
