The possibility of ending the support of European NATO members to Ukraine when Trump takes office
Politico writes, if Donald Trump, the candidate of the Republican Party, wins the US presidential election, it is possible that some European countries that are members of NATO will no longer support Ukraine.
The current US President Joe Biden’s government and some European countries pushed Ukraine towards war with Russia, and with Trump taking office, military support to Kiev may end, as Trump himself has repeatedly expressed his opposition to sending weapons. and announced financial aid to Ukraine and proposed peace between Kiev and Moscow.
Britain and other countries may face a difficult choice: agree to a forced settlement (peace) of the conflict in favor of the Russian Federation or reject this offer and support Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The US presidential candidate previously promised that if he comes to the White House, he will not send the US army to help Kiev. who had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine.
Earlier, the former US president said that developments in the situation around Ukraine, including Kiev’s statements about attacking Russian territory, will lead to the start of World War III.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Trump advisers Keith Kellogg and Fred Flitz presented him with a plan to complete the military operation in Ukraine, which would be implemented if he wins the presidential election. They also indicated that the United States should increase aid to Ukraine if Russia refuses to negotiate. According to the advisers, the Russian Federation “could be persuaded to come to the negotiating table and promise to delay Ukraine’s accession to NATO for a long time.”
Ukraine should not formally cede territory to Russia, according to Felitz, although Kiev is “unlikely to regain control of the entire territory in the near future.” He also noted that in order to achieve peace, additional security guarantees must be provided to Kyiv, which means “equipping [Ukraine] to the teeth.” According to Flitz, Trump himself reacted positively to the presented plan, but did not fully agree.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Russian presidency, said: The plan proposed by Trump’s advisers should take into account the situation on the battlefield. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently presented a peace initiative that neither the West nor Ukraine accepted.
