Russia: confiscation of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine is against the law

The Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia considered the action of Europe to use foreign assets of Russia for the benefit of Ukraine as a violation of international laws.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, Ivan Chebskov, Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia, said: The West has committed an illegal act by reaching out to Russia’s foreign assets. Using the interest of Russia’s frozen assets to grant loans to Ukraine is against international law and will backfire for the West.

Chebskov told reporters that these decisions of the United States and the European Union are not legal, these decisions contradict the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter.

“Joe Biden”, the president of the United States of America, announced this week that Washington is planning to grant a $20 billion loan to Ukraine using interest from frozen Russian assets. At the same time, the European Parliament supported a loan of up to 35 billion euros ($38 billion) to Kyiv.
