Lazzarini: The sustainable alternative to UNRWA is the establishment of a Palestinian state
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Al-Jazeera, “Philip Lazzarini”, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, emphasized: UNRWA’s role cannot be made redundant or replaced by another international agency. did.
The commissioner of UNRWA stated: We want to prevent the implementation of the Israeli Knesset’s resolution banning the agency’s activities. UNRWA represents the response of the international community to the needs of Palestinian refugees according to the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.
Lazzarini stated: A political crisis has arisen following Israel’s desire to dissolve UNRWA. No other international agency can replace us in providing our services to thousands of Palestinians.
The commissioner of UNRWA said: Dissolving the agency was one of the goals of the war against Gaza. A viable alternative to UNRWA is the establishment of a Palestinian state. The agency has no replacement plan in Gaza and the responsibility for this lies with the occupiers. The annexation of Palestinian lands to “Israel” will not achieve lasting peace in the region.
Lazzarini said: If the Israeli laws banning our activities come into force, we will not be able to operate from January 28. The people of Gaza are in dire need of aid and hundreds of people are trying to reach our center in Khan Yunis. We will work with the Palestinians until the last day and we will explore all diplomatic methods to continue our activities.
