On Saturday, Donald Trump threatened the member countries of the “BRICS” group that if they want to introduce a reserve currency as a competitor to the dollar, they will face 100% tariffs.
Trump wrote on his social network known as “Truth Social”: The idea that the BRICS countries will try to distance themselves from the dollar and we will just watch them is over.
He pointed out that he will ask the BRICS countries to pledge not to create a common currency, adding that these countries should also not support any currency as an alternative to the strong US dollar. Otherwise, they will face 100% tariffs.
The president-elect of America added: There is no way that BRICS will replace the US dollar in international trade, and any country that tries to do so should say goodbye to America.
