IAEA Chief Grossi Expresses Optimism Over Iran-US Negotiations Outcome
According to the English section of the “Webangah News Agency,” citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated in an interview with the Italian media outlet La Repubblica on Sunday that the U.S. and Iran have come close to an agreement but emphasized that it requires monitoring.
The IAEA Director General added that only the International Atomic Energy Agency can guarantee oversight of any agreement reached between Washington and Tehran. A deal on Iran’s nuclear program could be finalized within weeks.
Rafael Grossi further noted that an agreement on Iran’s nuclear issue is not possible without verification by the IAEA. If there is political will, technical solutions can be found with American and Iranian experts.
it should be mentioned that the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, concluded yesterday in Rome.
These negotiations were chaired by Seyed Abbas Araghchi, our country’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and Steve Wittkopf, U.S. Special Representative for West Asia Affairs in Italy.
Like their first round , these discussions were held indirectly through Omani mediation . p>
