Kremlin, U.S. React to Putin’s Announced Ukraine Ceasefire
According to the English section of “Webangah News Agency,” citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the U.S. and the Kremlin have taken positions regarding the continuation of yesterday’s ceasefire declared by putin in Ukraine.
The U.S. State Department issued a statement on this matter,declaring: “we are committed to achieving a complete and thorough ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.” Washington welcomes an extension of the ceasefire in Ukraine beyond Sunday.
On the other hand,Dmitry Peskov,spokesperson for the Russian Presidential Office (Kremlin),stated today that Putin has not issued orders to extend the Easter truce.
This comes as Russia’s president yesterday announced a roughly 30-hour ceasefire before attending Orthodox Easter church services.
He had stated that the ceasefire would be in effect from midnight Saturday until midnight Sunday.
