People’s Democracy and Equality Party reacts to possible dissolution of PKK
The “Democracy and Equality of Peoples Party” (DEM) in a statement announced a “new dawn of peace and brotherhood” in Turkey, emphasizing that the country will approach a new threshold of peace under the shadow of recent PKK decisions.
according too the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Al-mayadeen, the Kurdish party “Democracy and Equality of Peoples” (DEM) declared a “new dawn of peace and brotherhood” in Turkey.
The party’s statement read: Turkey is nearing a new threshold for peace under the light of recent decisions made by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) congress.
The DEM Party added: The time has come for the will for peace to prevail and for policies of hatred and discrimination in Turkey to end. We demand a new chapter in Turkish politics, starting with reviving democratic processes through parliament.
The party also emphasized: We thank Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the PKK, as well as all those who supported political solution efforts.
Firat News Agency, affiliated with the PKK, reported that during its two-day meeting in northern Iraq, the party made historic decisions. Firat further stated that the PKK would soon disclose details regarding these historic resolutions.
Additionally, Middle east Eye reported that the PKK is expected to announce its formal dissolution this week. Some Kurdish sources have also claimed that the historic decision involves ending military activities, which will soon be declared at a press conference.
