In a related development, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot urged the European Union to cease all trade with Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories. Barrot stated on Wednesday that settler violence in the West Bank necessitates new sanctions. He described this violence as shameful and emphasized the need to impose sanctions on Israeli settlements comparable to those enacted against Crimea.
