According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Mayadeen, thousands of extremist settlers known as Haredim held demonstrations on Thursday in Tel Aviv and occupied Jerusalem to oppose mandatory military conscription.
Reports from Hebrew media estimated that around 200,000 participants took part in the protests in occupied Jerusalem. Clashes broke out between the Haredim and israeli police during which a protester died after jumping from a multi-story building.
During the confrontations,an israeli police officer was injured after being hit by stones thrown by Haredi demonstrators and was rushed to hospital. Police and security forces deployed mounted units to disperse the protesters.
The demonstrations occurred amid ongoing efforts by the Israeli cabinet to find a legal and political solution aimed at ending decades-long exemptions from military service granted to haredi communities-a matter that has increasingly become a crisis for the regime.
