IAEA Reports Critical Power Line Repairs Begin at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirmed on Sunday that critical repairs to power lines at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant have begun. The work, monitored by IAEA teams, is anticipated to take several days.
Grossi emphasized that the repairs are part of ongoing efforts to prevent a nuclear incident during the military conflict. The IAEA had earlier reported a temporary ceasefire between Russian and Ukrainian forces at the plant, facilitated by the agency.
The Zaporizhzhia plant, seized by Russian forces in March 2022, remains a focal point of accusations between Kyiv and Moscow, with both sides alleging attacks on the facility. Built between 1984 and 1995 in southeastern Ukraine during the Soviet era, it is currently Europe’s largest nuclear power plant and the ninth-largest globally.
