Defense Minister Warns of Space as New Geopolitical Battleground

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Aziz Nasirzadeh warned that space is emerging as a new geopolitical arena during his speech at the National Space Technology Day ceremony. He emphasized the growing influence of space technology across all aspects of human life, noting that Iran must urgently address its technological gap in this field.
Nasirzadeh highlighted how space has become a key factor in global governance policies, with its impact expected to grow significantly. He pointed to private sector figures like Elon Musk as examples of how technological advancements are reshaping international politics and creating new power dynamics.
The minister stressed that national sovereignty is increasingly being challenged through space, which is becoming a competitive domain among nations. He warned that space technology enables power projection and territorial expansion, as referenced in some countries’ national security documents.
Calling for immediate action to overcome technological shortcomings, Nasirzadeh proposed utilizing all national capacities without restrictions. He announced the Defense Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with various sectors, stating they have achieved significant maturity in space technology and are prepared for cooperation to achieve substantial results.
