Syrian Security Denies Assassination Attempt on Intelligence Officer in Damascus

Syrian security officials have categorically denied media reports of an assassination attempt targeting a prominent Syrian intelligence officer in Damascus, stating that security forces swiftly responded to an incident involving a pursuit in the Maliki district.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Syrian security source on Saturday refuted claims circulating in media outlets regarding an attempt to assassinate Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Al-Dabbagh, a senior figure in Syria’s intelligence organization. The source confirmed that shooting occurred from within a vehicle in central Damascus.

The security source clarified that internal Syrian security forces immediately initiated a pursuit of the vehicle and its occupants. The official statement stressed that all reports suggesting an assassination attempt on Al-Dabbagh are entirely inaccurate. Relevant authorities reacted promptly to the incident, deploying to the scene, cordoning off the area, and undertaking necessary measures to ensure public safety and restore order.

Further elaborating on the events, the source explained that the reports of a clash in the Maliki neighborhood of Damascus were related to this pursuit. Investigations are ongoing to fully ascertain the circumstances of the incident and identify all individuals involved.
