Al-Maliki: Targeting Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Violates Sovereignty

Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, has condemned attacks on the Popular Mobilization Forces within Iraq as a clear act of aggression and a serious violation of the nation’s sovereignty. He called for national unity to confront what he described as a Zionist-American-backed aggression.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, stated on Friday via a message on the social media platform X that the expansion of conflict into new areas within Iraq and the targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces, an official military entity within the state’s security apparatus, constitutes an overt act of aggression and a blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Al-Maliki further asserted that this unjust aggression is condemned, urging the government and political forces to unite on a cohesive national front to undertake all necessary actions against this aggression, which he attributed to forces supported by America and acting on behalf of Zionism. The Iraqi people have unequivocally deemed this attack and the targeting of their sons unacceptable and have condemned it. He concluded by stating that shame and disgrace fall upon all those who violate the norms, laws, and standards governing international relations.
