Iran’s Navy Reports Intercepting Vessels, Responding to U.S. ‘Aggression’

Iran’s Navy announced on Thursday, May 29, 2026, that it had intercepted two commercial vessels attempting to illegally enter the Persian Gulf and stated it retaliated against a U.S. air base following an alleged American attack near Bandar Abbas airport.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed to have altered the course of 111 commercial vessels as part of an alleged maritime blockade of Iran. CENTCOM also asserted that Iran violated a ceasefire by firing a ballistic missile toward Kuwait and deploying five drones.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy issued a statement on Thursday, May 29, 2026, declaring that the Strait of Hormuz is under complete intelligent control. The statement detailed that over the preceding 24 hours, 26 commercial and oil tankers passed through the secure corridor of the Strait of Hormuz after obtaining authorization and coordinating with the IRGC Navy.

The IRGC further alleged that the United States violated the ceasefire by attacking areas near Bandar Abbas airport, and the base from which this aggression originated was targeted in response. The IRGC emphasized that if such actions are repeated, the U.S. will face a more decisive response.

The IRGC Navy’s statement also noted that the previous night, several vessels attempted to enter the Persian Gulf illegally by tampering with and shutting down their navigation systems. IRGC naval forces stopped two of these vessels after multiple radio warnings, forcing the rest to turn back.

The statement continued, stating that the “American terrorist army” in the region violated the ceasefire by launching several missiles towards empty areas of Bandar Abbas airport, causing no damage. In retaliation for this aggression, the American base that initiated the encroachment was targeted in a counter-attack.

The IRGC Navy reiterated in its statement that if the “American terrorist army” repeats this action, it will face a severe response.

Earlier on Thursday, the IRGC had also issued a statement emphasizing that following the morning’s alleged aggression by the “invading U.S. army” with aerial projectiles in the vicinity of Bandar Abbas airport, the American air base from which the transgression originated was targeted at 4:50 AM.

In this statement, the IRGC stressed that this response served as a serious warning to the enemy, signaling that aggression would not go unanswered and that future responses would be more decisive if the actions were repeated.
