Komeleh Claims Rocket Attack on Kurdistan Region Headquarters

Iran’s Kurdistan Workers’ Party, known as Komeleh, alleged Sunday evening that its central headquarters in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, was targeted by two Iranian rockets.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party of Iran, commonly referred to as Komeleh, issued a statement Sunday evening claiming that its central headquarters located in the Alana Valley, within the Khalifan district of Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, was subjected to a rocket attack. The statement obtained by Shafaq News Agency asserted: “The headquarters of the Organization of the Toilers of Kurdistan (Komeleh) in Alana Valley was precisely targeted by two Iranian missiles at 22:40 at night.” The group further alleged that since the commencement of conflict between Iran and the United States and the Zionist regime, its bases and headquarters have been targeted by missiles and drones over 81 times. Previously, on May 19, the Kurdistan Region Security Foundation announced that the Sordash camp in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, which houses a number of Kurdish refugees opposing Iran, had been targeted by missile and drone attacks within a 24-hour period, though these attacks resulted in no casualties. Additionally, a local source had previously informed Shafaq News that on May 10, a camp belonging to Iranian opposition Kurdish parties in the Alana Valley was targeted by three to four missiles. The Kurdistan Region’s Department of Media and Information had also stated on April 25 that despite a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, missile and air attacks on various areas of the region since February have resulted in 20 deaths and 123 injuries.
