Former Israeli PM Barak Warns Netanyahu’s Government Leading Israel to Most Dangerous Situation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, the Israeli newspaper Maariv quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak as saying that the current Israeli cabinet, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, is deceptive and misleading Israelis.
Barak stated that Netanyahu’s remarks about the “destruction of Hezbollah” are unrealistic and that Lebanon’s occupation is not achievable. He added that this would not happen as it is completely impractical and doomed to fail.
Criticizing Netanyahu’s cabinet, Barak asserted that this government has dragged the Israeli entity into the most dangerous political-security situation in its history, and that the Israeli army has been largely depleted. However, the cabinet’s deception continues.
Barak also expressed his “deep concern” about the execution of a ground operation in Lebanon, adding that this war plan is likely not based on practical considerations.
He referred to the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon after years of occupation in 2000 and emphasized that Hezbollah’s increased capabilities were due to the presence of Israeli forces in Lebanon. He added that the current Israeli government fails to understand that war itself is not the objective, but rather a means to achieve a political and diplomatic solution.
