Israeli Defense Minister Threatens Wider Strikes in Lebanon

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency citing Al Jazeera, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz claimed that Washington has agreed with Israel’s principle that continued attacks on the north would be met with a strike on the southern suburb of Beirut, and that this matter has been communicated to the Lebanese government.
He asserted that it would become clear in the coming days whether attacks on northern Israel would cease or continue. He added that if the attacks persist, they would initiate strikes on the Dahieh, the southern suburb of Beirut. The Israeli army’s operations in southern Lebanon will continue under all circumstances.
The Israeli Defense Minister further claimed that the Israeli army is considering conducting further operations in Lebanon. The long-term objective, he stated, is the disarmament of Hezbollah, with a more immediate goal being the removal of weapons from the area south of the Litani River within the framework of Israeli control over this region.
