UN Experts Condemn U.S. Actions Against Cuba as Echoes of Colonialism

United Nations experts have declared that U.S. efforts to destabilize Cuba mirror colonial-era tactics, urging an immediate end to perceived threats against the island nation’s sovereignty.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN experts have stated that the United States’ attempts to destabilize Cuba are part of a strategy reminiscent of colonial approaches. The experts released a statement in Geneva emphasizing that endeavors to alter a constitutionally established system in an independent country through coercion and threats echo historical colonial practices.

The statement highlighted that pronouncements by the U.S. President regarding taking control of Cuba reflect a deeply concerning strategy based on the use of force against an independent nation. These remarks are seen as a component of a broader approach that includes long-standing sanctions against Cuba, labeling it a state sponsor of terrorism, and implementing measures affecting its energy sector.

The UN experts have called on Washington to immediately cease all threats against Cuba’s sovereignty. They have also urged UN member states to adopt appropriate measures within the organization to uphold international legal order.
