UNICEF Warns of Global Impact of Conflict on Iran

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has highlighted that the consequences of conflict involving Iran are extending beyond regional borders, impacting global supply chains and children’s lives worldwide.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UNICEF official Jean Cedric Mious, head of logistics services for the UN children’s fund, stated that the repercussions of hostilities directed at Iran by the United States and the Zionist regime have surpassed regional boundaries.

Mious elaborated that disruptions in commodity supply chains are negatively affecting children globally, leading to price hikes. He noted that shipping activities in the Middle East, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, have been disrupted, a situation rapidly escalating into a humanitarian crisis.

The UNICEF official also mentioned that some airlines have canceled flights to Africa, and operational costs are rising amidst a global funding support crisis.

This situation is particularly concerning as 65 out of 75 of the world’s most vulnerable economies, including least developed countries and small island developing states, rely on oil imports, according to a report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The UNCTAD report indicates that for these nations, increased energy prices will result in higher expenditures, impacting the lives of nearly one billion people.
