Albanians Protest Against Trump Family’s Environmental Project

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, protests continue in Albania against an environmentally controversial project linked to the Trump family. Images released on Saturday showed an organized demonstration on the island of Zvërnec in southern Albania, opposing a tourism investment project owned by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, and his wife Ivanka Trump.
Participants in the rally carried Albanian flags and handmade signs with environmental messages, articulating their dissent against the project’s implementation in the region and calling for environmental protection.
Reports indicate that the plan involves the construction of hotel complexes and tourism facilities on the uninhabited island of Sazan, as well as in the Zvërnec and Vlorë-Nartë areas in southern Albania. Portions of these locations are situated within coastal zones and protected natural reserves.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner had previously announced their intention to develop a private island spanning 1,400 hectares in the Mediterranean Sea.
The former President’s daughter stated that this substantial project would be executed with the collaboration of international architects.
However, this controversial project, estimated to cost over one billion U.S. dollars and supported by the Albanian government, is facing widespread opposition from environmental activists and local residents in the country.
They have declared that Albanian authorities are pursuing the destruction of the environment and the devastation of a sensitive coastal area from an ecological standpoint.
Under this project, Sazan Island, formerly a military site near the Albanian coast, is slated to be transformed into the Trump family’s private island, with Kushner’s investment company undertaking the execution of the development.
