US Vice President Vance Signals Progress on Iran Nuclear Deal Amidst Trump’s Conflicting Threats

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Washington is nearing an agreement to manage Iran’s nuclear program long-term, a claim that starkly contrasts with President Donald Trump’s recent threats of new military actions against Tehran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance told CBS News that Washington is approaching an agreement that would allow for the long-term management and resolution of Iran’s nuclear program. Vance indicated that while some issues remain and further work is needed, negotiations are advancing and the parties are drawing closer to a deal.

Echoing Iranian officials and disregarding Tehran’s consistent assertions that it is not seeking nuclear weapons, Vance reiterated the U.S. objective: “The primary goal of U.S. policy is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons in the future.” The Vice President expressed hope that the current trajectory would lead to a stable, long-term agreement, though he provided no further details on potential deal specifics.

Vance’s optimistic remarks come as President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News, characterized Iran’s resistance to Washington’s “exorbitant conditions” as “delay tactics” and threatened to authorize new strikes against Iran. This use of escalatory rhetoric by the U.S. President follows closely on the heels of his previous statements suggesting an imminent agreement with Tehran. The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently maintained that it will respond decisively to any military action by the United States.

President Trump has previously issued stern warnings to Iran regarding strikes on its infrastructure, only to later retract such threats. Iranian military and political officials have repeatedly affirmed, and demonstrated through their actions, that they will not leave any enemy aggression unanswered and will deliver a firm and regrettable response.
