Lebanese Representative Calls for Review of Beirut’s Negotiation Stance Amidst Iran-US Deal Speculation

A Lebanese lawmaker from Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc has urged Beirut to reconsider its negotiation positions, suggesting that rumors of an Iran-US agreement encompassing Lebanon necessitate a shift away from concessions to Israel and towards national interests.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ali Fayyad, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon, emphasized that discussions surrounding a potential agreement between the United States and Iran, which could include Lebanon, should prompt Lebanese authorities to re-evaluate their negotiating stances. Fayyad argued that these positions are currently characterized by excessive concessions to Israel, exacerbating the nation’s problems and weakening Lebanon’s standing against enemy aggressions.

He added that Lebanese officials should possess the courage to admit their failures. Fayyad recalled that when Lebanese authorities adopted a hostile stance against the Iranian ambassador and ceased supporting the resistance, they achieved no success other than turning sovereignty into an instrument of a powerless will. He asserted that they hold no bargaining chips or power and must correct their mistakes.

Fayyad stated that Lebanese officials should leverage the potential Iran-US agreement by prioritizing a complete cessation of aggressions, which he believes would pave the way for the rapid and unconditional withdrawal of the Zionist regime from occupied territories.
