Egypt’s Foreign Minister Discusses Iran-US Talks with US Envoy

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US Special Envoy for Middle East Steve Wittek engaged in a phone call to review the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations and recent efforts to reach an agreement. Cairo has reiterated its support for a deal that could de-escalate regional tensions and foster stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in a phone conversation, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Steve Wittek, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East affairs, reviewed the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations and recent contacts aimed at reaching an agreement between the two parties. The discussions were reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Al-Sharq newspaper.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that such an agreement could contribute to reducing tensions, ending conflict, and ushering in a new era of security and stability in the region.

During the call, Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt’s welcome of the prospective agreement and emphasized the importance of consolidating all efforts in cooperation with regional partners to achieve a final accord that considers the concerns of all parties involved. He also highlighted the necessity of seizing this opportunity to end the ongoing conflict and bolster regional stability.

Wittek, in turn, expressed appreciation for the extensive efforts of regional parties, including Egypt, in pursuing an agreement. He conveyed his hope that the potential deal would lead to enhanced regional security and stability.
