Israeli Media Reacts to Iran-US Agreement, Expressing Divergent Views

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, reports from Israel indicate varied reactions from its media outlets following the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States. The agreement, aimed at de-escalating tensions, has sparked debate and analysis across the Israeli media landscape.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had anticipated that an offensive in Beirut would lead to the collapse of negotiations. However, the outcome was contrary to expectations, with the agreement being finalized.
Roni Rimmon, a strategic advisor to the Israeli cabinet, implicitly criticized the Iran-U.S. agreement, stating that Israel should not become a victim of this peace accord. This sentiment suggests concerns about the potential ramifications for Israeli security interests.
Channel 14 of Israeli television described the agreement as a “very important achievement” for Iranians, emphasizing the immediate nature of the ceasefire. The channel asserted that Israel should consequently halt its operations in Lebanon without delay, in accordance with the terms of the accord.
The Israeli newspaper Maariv claimed that Netanyahu informed U.S. President Donald Trump that the Israeli army would not withdraw from Lebanon. Israel reportedly does not consider itself bound by the clause pertaining to Lebanon within the agreement between Iran and the United States.
Yedioth Ahronoth reiterated that Netanyahu informed Trump that the Israeli military would maintain its current positions within Lebanon. This stance underscores a potential divergence between Israeli policy and the U.S.-Iran agreement’s intended scope.
In a separate report, Maariv quoted Natan Eshel, an individual close to Netanyahu, who described the understanding signed by Iran and the U.S. as having no value, asserting that no one, with the exception of Donald Trump, values it.
