Bolton Declares 14-Point Understanding a True Defeat for the United States

Former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton has described a 14-point agreement between Iran and the United States as a significant setback for America, suggesting it could embolden Iran and fail to resolve key international implications.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton stated in an interview with Bloomberg Television that a 14-point understanding between Iran and the United States represents a genuine defeat for the U.S. Bolton characterized the agreement as a major disappointment, asserting it has resulted in a real failure for the United States.

He elaborated that while military successes were achieved by the U.S. in its illegal aggression against Iran, the country subsequently found itself trapped by a situation created by then-President Trump. Bolton pointed to Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz, questioning the effectiveness of the current understanding in fundamentally reopening the vital waterway. He suggested that while this agreement might offer political benefits to Trump domestically, its long-term international implications are undesirable.

Bolton further argued that the lifting of the U.S.’s illegal blockade on Iranian ports will lead to revenue from oil sales reaching Iran, thereby strengthening its capabilities. He expressed certainty that Iran’s blocked assets would eventually be returned to the country. Bolton concluded by noting that Iran continues to view the U.S. as the “Great Satan” and stated he would not have provided funds to the Iranian people, adding that the objectives pursued during the conflict were not achieved.
