Six Israeli Soldiers Killed in Southern Lebanon Attacks, Hezbollah Claims Combined Assault

The Israeli army has confirmed the deaths of six soldiers in southern Lebanon following attacks attributed to Hezbollah since Thursday, with reports indicating a coordinated drone and anti-tank missile strike on an Israeli tank.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli army radio reported that six Israeli soldiers have been killed and over 20 others injured in Hezbollah attacks in southern Lebanon since last Thursday. Among the fatalities is a high-ranking army officer.

The Israeli army typically censors casualties and damages resulting from Hezbollah attacks. Meanwhile, the Hebrew-language network ‘Kan’ reported that the Israeli army is investigating an incident in which four soldiers from the 52nd Armored Brigade, including the brigade commander, were killed in southern Lebanon. The names of two other soldiers have not yet been confirmed for release, according to the network.

Initial investigation results suggest that Hezbollah employed a combined assault in this operation, simultaneously targeting an Israeli tank with anti-tank missiles, possibly of the Kornet type, and at least one explosive drone. Investigations indicate that after being hit by anti-tank missiles, the explosive drone entered the tank through the rear hatch and detonated within the crew compartment, leading to the deaths of the tank’s occupants.

‘Kan’ added that the drone’s penetration into the tank is currently the most significant focus of investigations by the army and armored forces of the Israeli regime. The Israeli army has emphasized that the explosion was not caused by a technical malfunction. The report also indicates that the Israeli army has not yet managed to retrieve the tank from southern Lebanon, which is complicating more precise technical investigations.
