US Grants 60-Day Waiver for Iranian Oil Sales Amid Ongoing Negotiations

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated on Monday via her social media platform X that Washington has issued a temporary 60-day general license for the production, transfer, and sale of Iranian oil within the framework of current negotiations between Iran and the United States.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary further claimed that Iran has committed to maintaining free passage through the Strait of Hormuz and permitting inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) entry into the country.
This development follows an earlier authorization by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This previous license permitted the production, delivery, and sale of crude oil, petrochemical products, and petroleum derivatives originating from Iran until August 21, 2026.
A statement issued by the OFAC had specified that this license encompasses the sale of crude oil, petrochemical products, and petroleum derivatives from Iran.
