China Pledges Support for Iran’s Sovereignty and Regional Peace Initiatives

Beijing reiterated its commitment to supporting Iran’s national sovereignty, security, and dignity, and expressed readiness to contribute constructively to regional peace and stability in West Asia. China advocates for resolving regional disputes through dialogue and negotiation, opposing the use or threat of force.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, China has affirmed its steadfast support for Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security, and dignity. Guo Jiaqun, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Wednesday that Beijing is prepared to offer assistance in its own way, guided by its four-point proposal aimed at fostering peace and stability in West Asia, to help restore regional peace and stability as soon as possible.

Responding to a question about how Beijing, as Iran’s comprehensive strategic partner, could leverage its influence to ensure the United States’ adherence to a ceasefire agreement and aid Tehran in achieving peace, Guo emphasized China’s long-held belief that sensitive regional issues and disputes should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, not through the use or threat of force.

Guo noted that the memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran, in which both parties commit to respecting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, refraining from further military actions, and avoiding interference in each other’s internal affairs, sends a positive signal to the international community. He added that this commitment must be jointly upheld and implemented.

The spokesperson further stated that China has consistently maintained a neutral stance, supporting all peace efforts. Beijing backs Iran in preserving its sovereignty, security, and national dignity, and supports Tehran in improving its relations with the Persian Gulf states and other regional countries.
