Canada Seeks to Reopen Embassy in Tehran, Prime Minister States

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for the reopening of his country’s embassy in Tehran, asserting that Canada is at a disadvantage without diplomatic representation in Iran and Venezuela.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country is in a weaker position due to the absence of diplomatic presence in nations such as Iran and that its embassies there should be reopened. Carney indicated that the lack of a Canadian embassy in countries like Iran and Venezuela has created significant difficulties in addressing the affairs of Canadian citizens. He emphasized that reopening diplomatic missions in these countries could contribute to improved consular services and strengthened diplomatic ties. Canada closed its embassy in Tehran and suspended diplomatic relations with Iran in 2012 as part of its hostile policies against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
